Every person in this life has a story to tell. Stories that when lived out can parallel other stories but are still the unique story of that one person. Here are three such people who have very different life stories, yet all have something in common. See if you can guess what it is.
Our first story is of a little girl who was born in Quebec, Canada. She was the youngest of 14 children and grew up poor but flourished in a happy home. This little girl’s life was surrounded by music. With the help of her brother and a recording artist, whom she later married, she became one of the most famous singers of our time. This little girl’s name is Celine Dion, one of music’s most influential voices.
Our second story is of a little boy born in Manila, Philippines. His parents were American missionaries and he is the youngest of 5 children. His mother home schooled him and his siblings, instilling in them the faith that now this man is known for.
Football was this man’s passion and in 2007 he was awarded the Heisman Trophy that not only led him down a successful career path in football but also baseball! This little boy’s name is Tim Tebow, former professional American football quarterback and current professional outfielder in the New York Mets organization.
Our final story is about a little boy born in San Francisco, California in 1955. He was born to a Syrian father and a mother of Swiss and German descent. When she became pregnant, there were several obstacles to overcome: Religious differences, pregnant and unmarried at 23 years old, and fear of the shame this would bring on their families. When their parents refused to give their blessing to continue in the relationship, the couple decided to give this child up for adoption.
This little boy was adopted by a loving couple and as he grew he challenged his parents’ and teachers’ authority. In the fourth grade his teacher saw potential in him and invested in his life, challenging him to accomplish his goals for a little cash.
As an adult he attributed his drive for learning to this particular teacher. Little did anyone know that this little boy would go on to create technologies that no one would even imagine could be a reality. This little boy’s name was Steve Jobs, former Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc.
